This is an in-class writing exercise. We were asked to pick a person we know and fill out certain aspects of their personality and traits (very rudimentary stuff). I chose my evil twin, Jocelyn. What we didn’t understand was that we were supposed to swap character sheets, and using the info provided, write a scene with the other’s character. Since we chose to do each other, this would have resulted in us writing about ourselves. Madness ensued.
Character Sheet:
1) Their belief and attitudes
- Easy going
- Loving
- Affectionate
2) A costume/prop
- Headphones, over sized, expensive
- Red fox hat
3) Obsession
- My Little Pony
4) Basic Emotion
- Pensive
5) A sentence or catchphrase
- “Well, here’s the thing…”
- “I’m sorry”
6) Body movement/gestures
- Animated laughter
- Adjusts glasses (pushes up by nose)
- Wipes eyes/face
- Walks heavy, occasionally hunched when alone
The Scene:
Jocelyn approaches the Twilight Sparkle mascot. He’s giddy, face red with glee. There’s a bounce in his normal shamble. He pulls down his over sized headphones. The red fox ears of his hat add a sense of alertness to his general disposition. He taps Twilight Sparkle on the shoulder and gushes “Are you real?”
“No,” a gruff male voice grunts.
“Oh,” Jocelyn replies, dejected. “I’m sorry.”
He saunters away, pleased all the same.
Quite a bit of thought, inventiveness and work put into that. Well done.
